The challenge: knowledge in people’s heads, not in the system
To fully take HR administration off their clients’ hands, Group S wanted to optimize their IT landscape. But there was an obstacle: over the years, a sprawl of tools had built up. For some applications, they weren’t even sure anymore: “Are we still using this?”
On top of that, crucial knowledge about flows and processes was often stored in employees’ heads rather than in documented systems. Before you can digitalize, you first have to map out that chaos.
The approach: the power of the ‘tandem’
Hyperion started with a thorough audit of the ‘as-is’ situation. For this, we deliberately chose not one profile, but a multidisciplinary tandem:
- The Enterprise Architect: looks at architecture and integrations, how do the tools talk to each other?
- The Functional Analyst: focuses on business requirements, what does the organization actually need?
This combination delivered a complete picture: technically feasible and functionally correct.
Why the ‘human match’ was crucial
Group S is a typically Brussels organization where bilingualism is the norm. If you want to extract knowledge from people’s heads, you need to speak their language, literally.
Because our analysts don’t just know the HR sector (and competitors like SD Worx or Acerta), but are also fully bilingual and technically grounded, they could engage directly with every layer of the organization. No ramp-up time, just immediate results.
From consultant to the CIO’s ‘right hand’
The audit was only the beginning. Bilal, the expert who carried out the audit, got to know the organization so well that he grew into a strategic role.
He helped set up the new mid-office application for payroll, and thanks to his deep knowledge, effectively became the unofficial right hand of the CIO. He flagged issues proactively and helped shape the roadmap for the future.
The future: partnership over staffing
This journey proves Hyperion’s vision: we don’t want to just be a vendor, we want to be part of the product team. What started as a question about documents is now a partnership in which we help shape architecture, analysis, and UI/UX design heading into 2026.
We don’t just want to book short-term wins, we want to generate real long-term sustainability.
